Scott Onder is the Managing Director of the Social Venture Fund at Mercy Corps where he works at the intersection of international development, venture capital and technology. In disaster, in hardship, in more than 40 countries around the world, Mercy Corps partners to put bold solutions into action—helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within. Scott manages the Social Venture Fund, which invests in early-stage social enterprises that create major breakthroughs against poverty and lasting change in the communities where Mercy Corps works. These innovative, technology-driven ventures are pursuing impact in financial inclusion, agriculture, energy access, last-mile distribution, and youth education and employment. Scott is particularly focused on digital financial services in frontier markets and technology innovations that address urbanization and youth unemployment challenges. He is on the Advisory Council for Mercy Corps’ AgriFin Accelerate Program a 6-year, $24 million program funded by the MasterCard Foundation to expand smallholder farmer access to technology-enabled financial and information services in East Africa.
